National Student Survey shows quality of student experience at1994 Group universities

The high quality student experience at 1994 Group universities has been marked by success in the National Student Survey, with all of the Group’s members achieving high scores for overall satisfaction. Thanks to this the Group is the best performing group of universities in the survey.

Alex Bols, Executive Director of the 1994 Group, said:

“Students at 1994 Group institutions enjoy the experience of research led teaching   in close-knit academic communities on world class campuses. The results of this are evident, with students signalling the high levels of satisfaction they enjoy in our institutions. Thanks to this we are once again the highest performing group of universities in the NSS.

“Our members do not take this success for granted, and continue to improve and enhance the experiences they offer students. This means providing a rigorous academic programme alongside many extra-curricula opportunities, as well as supporting potential students through the application process and graduates as they make the transition into work.”

Alex Bols also commented on the launch of the Key Information Sets (KIS):

“ The KIS will provide potential students with a range of valuable information to help guide application choices. However, it is important not to reduce the student experience to a simple set of data. Potential students should get a real feel for the institutions they are considering, and an idea of the academic communities they may be joining, by talking up opportunities to visit institutions and speak with academics, current students, and alumni. They should also be aware of the differing ways in which courses are taught, recognising that while some involve many hours of contact time, others allow students much more scope for independent learning.

“Helping potential students to navigate questions about the course-types that will best work for them is a major contributor to the success 1994 Group universities achieve in the NSS, and a key factor in their commitment to fully rounded student experiences.”
